7.Installation Precautions for COB RGB LED Strip Light

(1) Cutting and splicing specifications:

1.Precise cutting: Only use sharp scissors to cut at the marked copper base cutting point, avoid pulling or cutting diagonally resulting in circuit damage.

2.Splice connection: The COB RGB LED strip light should be connected with waterproof butt joints/solder to connect the break points after cutting, the bare wires should be insulated (such as heat shrinkable tube package), and waterproof adhesive should be coated at the joints of IP67/IP68 rated the COB RGB LED strip light to prevent short-circuiting.

3.Length limitation: single COB RGB LED strip light is recommended to be no more than 5 meters (to avoid the voltage drop caused by the end of the brightness attenuation), long-distance installation needs to be segmented power supply.

(2) Installation treatment:

1.Wipe the installation surface with alcohol before pasting the COB RGB LED strip light to ensure that there is no oil, dust, and enhance the adhesion of 3M adhesive backing.

2.COB RGB LED strip light can be bent, but the bending radius should be ≥ 3cm, to avoid cracking of the silicone layer or internal line breakage.

3.Outdoor or vibration environment is recommended to use additional clips/ties to fix the COB RGB LED strip light to prevent the adhesive backing from aging off.

(3) Environmental adaptability requirements:

1.Temperature preheating:When installing in an environment lower than -20℃, power on for 5 minutes to warm up the COB RGB LED strip light to avoid silicone embrittlement leading to bending and rupture.

2.Heat dissipation avoidance: Avoid COB RGB LED strip light long time covered with shade (such as carpet, sealed cabinet), high temperature environment need to reduce the brightness or increase the heat dissipation channel.

3.Protection level matching:

IP20:Indoor dry area only, avoid kitchen fumes, bathroom water spray.

IP67/IP68: Avoid strong direct water flow (such as fountain) when installing COB RGB LED strip light outdoors, and check the aging condition of sealing tape regularly.

(4) Power on test and maintenance:

1.DC24V regulated power supply must be used, over-voltage or reverse wiring is prohibited.

2.Before installing for long distance, check the brightness consistency and controller response by energizing each segment.

3.Be sure to disconnect the power supply when installing, cutting or servicing the COB RGB LED strip light to prevent electric shock or burned circuits.

4.Check the adhesive backing of the COB RGB LED strip light and the waterproofness of the interface every half a year. Outdoor strips are recommended to clean the surface dust to ensure heat dissipation.
